Lessons
Individual Lessons

- One-on-one individual lessons tailored to your specific needs, for quick advancement.
- Ideal for a persistent problem, or as a fast-track way of making rapid progress.
- ‘Eyes on the ground’ and a coach who may ride your horse will help enhance your results.
Individual lessons are fun and informative, working at your level. While I may challenge you (sometimes your brain limits what you think you can do!), you can be assured close attention is paid to your skill level and safety at all times.
Behaviour modification – planning for change
If it is more appropriate, the horse’s behaviour can be assessed: including his background, any challenging behaviours, health, feeding and training regimes, considering the horse from a holistic perspective.
I can then provide a plan for you with some practical help followed by lessons/guidance and further follow-up, if required. You are welcome to contact me to discuss your progress at any time.
Some issues are very easily resolved, sometimes ingrained (well-learned & practised) habits can prove more resistant to change, so the rider/handler must be committed to following through consistently.
Testimonial
I started lessons with Karen when my riding was at an all time low after being bucked off on more than one occasion.
Karen has been great at taking us back to basics, helping us to establish self carriage, steering and stop & go. I never knew my horse could be so light and responsive, and that walk to canter could be so easy. Karen’s teaching has given me a platform from which to rebuild my lost confidence and, slowly but surely, I’m regaining the trust that I’d lost in my horse.

Confident jumping, showing bascule
We still have a long way to go before we’ll be out jumping a metre, but yesterday we managed a bareback canter, and today we negotiated our way past a very scary object in the middle of a huge southerly, by applying the skills I’ve learned in my lessons with Karen.
I’m learning to ride the horse as I find him, to recognise when we should train through a problem, or when it would be better just to go for a walk or have that cup of tea! I’d highly recommend Karen to anyone who is interested in a modern and innovative approach to training and riding, which is free from conflict and kind to the horse and the person on its back.

Children can have a lot of fun in a group session, at the same time learning good safety during group situations under a watchful eye.
