Values

My values (the things that get me up in the morning!) are:

  • equine welfare
  • ethical training methods
  • the quest for constant personal improvement (kaizen)
  • safety of horse and human
  • confidence and dignity of the learner (horse & human!)

Encouraging and developing:

  • consistent responses
  • confidence & calmness
  • self carriage
  • in the rider – confidence, timing, balance, ‘feel’ and enquiry

There is a lot of talk around about ‘gaining the horse’s respect’, but I operate from the principle of respect for the horse.

I am also interested in the application of science as it relates to the horse, and are committed to understanding the roles of the two factors influencing behaviour:

  • evolution
  • the environment (which includes the rider and the use of the aids)
